Paul Wickers is the CEO of Huggg Ltd a company who have set out to make corporate gifting really simple – and thoughtful. Huggg has become a Multi-million-pound business and incredibly successful.

They provide services to businesses of all shapes and sizes, meaning that for their industry GDPR, Data security, and logistics are some of the unique issues they face. This meant that as well as achieving ISO: 27001, Paul wanted to achieve Cyber Essentials Plus, exhibiting the highest standards of information security, to show they are doing all they can to protect their data, client data and to also give them the required certification for selling into the Public Sector.

Initially, Huggg had started the process of looking at ISO:270001, however wanted to do more. Paul understood the importance of increasing their security and making sure they had solutions in place.

Working with Intu Veritas on the ISO accreditation, Paul mentioned Cyber Essentials Plus. Ellen and Steve were more than happy to recommend James Fowler and the team at Uptech.

After working with Uptech to get the Cyber Smart app installed on all the machines, to get them updated and patched, and working through the Questionnaire, Huggg passed stage one ‘Cyber Essentials’. The second stage was an Audit, prior to the audit taking place, Rachel and the team made sure everything was ok, by simulating a Vulnerability Assessment on several devices. This meant that when the Audit took place, any possible issues were removed. Huggg passed with flying colours.

The result has been that Huggg has secured a large government contract. This will help the business grow over the coming years.

The process has highlighted a need for Paul and Huggg to have a go-to solution for having devices shipped ready to go. A device direct out of the box is not secure and installing an anti-virus is not enough to achieve Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus. Huggg and Uptech are now working on this solution, as well as a solution for holding equipment when refurbished, to be sent back to Huggg

Huggg CEO, Paul Wickers says:

‘When looking for IT Support, make sure you are a good personality match. You will be working together on issues and you need to get on with those solving those issues.

Paul also added ‘Appreciating a good waistcoat will go a long way as well.
